Song Description
A story about how hard love can be. It poses the question: Isn't love suppose to be easy? When we're hot, we're hot, when we're cold, we're freezing.
Story Behind the Song
A story about how hard love can be.
Lyrics
Bagel Song
Words and Music by Amber Snider ©2012, Puddle Siren Music Publishing, ASCAP
He woke up this morning, now his bagel's burning, he's late for work again.
He couldn't go to sleep last night, had an unquiet mind, wrestling with the demons.
He thought about what she said, rolling around in his head, damn that woman.
He hates it when they fight, hell, she's always right, same old story once again.
Isn't love suppose to be easy?
When we're hot, we're hot.
When we're cold, we're freezing
Stuck in traffic once again, a sea of vehicles, he feels like he's drowning.
Spilled coffee on his shirt, it was hot but it didn't hurt as much as her words did.
Why's it got to be so hard, even when we're close it feels we're far away from each other.
It's no good to rant and rave, saying things we didn't mean to say.
Those words can't be forgotten
Isn't love suppose to be easy?
When we're hot, we're hot
When we're cold, we're freezing.
Shouldn't love be easy?
When we're hot, we're hot.
When we're cold, we're freezing.
If she'd only learn to listen to what he had to say, he'd be a happier man.
She only cares about herself, throws his heart right on that shelf
And there, it will always be forgotten.
Isn't love suppose to be easy?
When we're hot, we're hot.
When we're cold, we're freezing.
Shouldn't love be a little bit easy?
When we're hot, we're hot.
When we're cold, we're freezing.
Why can't love be a little bit easy?
When we're hot, we're hot.
When we're cold we're freezing, we're freezing, we're freezing.

Hero
Words and Music by Amber Snider ©2010 , ASCAP Puddle Siren Publishing
Why is it so hard to love one another?
Indifferent hearts turn on each other
It’s no wonder why we’re looking for an escape.
Why the world around us is so full of hate.
Is there a hero in us all? Who will be there to catch you if you fall? Can you keep the fire ignited in your soul? Put to rest the demons that will turn you cold, turn you cold
We’ve got to be brave take it day by day.
Plans will fall through where promises were made
Take it slow, relax we don’t know what tomorrow holds. All we have is today.
Is there a hero in us all? Who will be there to catch you when you fall? Can you keep the fire ignited in your soul? And put to rest the demons that will turn you cold, turn you cold. Turn you cold, turn you cold.
I don’t want to get old, I don’t want to stay the same
I wish I could control the way things change
But I can’t, I just can’t and that scares me to death
Though I can’t allow that fear to steal my breath
I’ve said too much I care too much, I wish I didn’t care at all. I think things would be easier for me if I could just be what you want me to be
Is there a hero in us all? Who will be there to catch you when you fall? Can you keep the fire ignited in your soul? And put to rest the demons that will turn you cold, turn you cold.

Gravel

Vs 1:
He’s up before the sun gets out of bed
He’s got sleep in his eyes, gravel in his head
He arrives at the gate, moves his body of lead
Sometimes he swears he’s almost be dead
He rakes the gravel that covers the road
He doesn’t complain, he knows everyone has their load
He rakes the gravel that makes the road nice
But the people who travel, never look twice
Chorus:
And the gravel, it falls by the wayside
It crawls through the fence, it swallows the vines
It rolls down the hill, it scatters around
He’ll have to do it again before the boss comes back around
Vs 2:
He doesn’t think much about what he can’t control
If he were born in this country he’d make a few dollars more
But as luck would have it, he was born next door but
The job is nice, times are tough for everyone he knows
He rakes the gravel, like he always did
Like his daddy before him when he was a kid
He rakes the gravel though it isn’t much fun
He has fingers on blisters but it needs to get done
Chorus:
And the gravel, it falls by the wayside
It crawls through the fence, it swallows the vines
It rolls down the hill, it scatters around
He’ll have to do it again before the boss comes back around
Vs 3:
If gravel were time he’d have all the time in the world
To be with his young bride and their new baby girl
He’s glad he makes enough to put food on the table
While his body and soul are still willing and able
Oh if gravel were diamonds he’d send them back home
To his poor widow mother down in old Mexico
He’d escaped to the states when he was only a child
Freedom rang loud in his ears only while
He crossed into a whole new world but
His daddy was gunned down at the border in Calexico
Instrumental
Vs. 4
With dreams of wine that turns into gold
And the promise of a future with fortunes untold
If gravel were wishes he would wish to hold
The hand of his daddy again
Outro:
He rakes the gravel that covers the road
He doesn’t complain, he knows everyone has their load
He rakes the gravel that covers the road
He doesn’t complain he knows everyone has their load

Eureka
Words and music by Amber Snider ©2010, ASCAP Puddle Siren Publishing
In the midst of change I rearranged the items I held in my purse
We found a reason we could say, well, it could be much worse
And the truth is that we’re getting older and least likely to meltdown
The engine may have blew a gasket but our feet are still on solid ground
We came here to refresh our spirits; we heard these trees pump out good air
We slept in a cabin with pristine showers and the rest, well, I just don’t care
It doesn’t matter whose fault it was. No one ever wins that game
The point is that we’re keeping cool and the result will remain the same
Eureka we found it, all fingers point straight to the sky
There’s no way around it, we’re keeping our heads held high
We walk down the street past all the shops and I play the plastic flute I bought
It doesn’t matter that I can’t play. “It makes me look sane” is what you say.
Looks like we’re stuck and we’re kinda far – at least we can play guitar
And we have the food we bought last night, its good right down to the last bite.
Eureka we found it, all fingers point straight to the sky
There’s no way around it, we’re keeping our heads held high
The hotel room smells like cigarettes and these cockroaches don’t make good pets
There are all kinds of stains on the floor and they forgot to put locks on our door
We light incense so that we can breathe I think it’s time for us to leave
There’s gotta be a reason we landed here it’s something that we must believe
Eureka we found it, all fingers point straight to the sky
There’s no way around it, we’re keeping our heads held high

Different Place, Different Time
Words and Music by Amber Snider ©2010, ASCAP Puddle Siren Publishing
Last time you saw her was a few years ago. Now she looks so tired, barely knew it was her. Except for those eyes she has, they pierce right through your soul. A glimpse of the youthfulness she had so long ago.
When she looks at you, you turn away. She’s got a lot on her mind but nothing to say. You try to recall how you knew her at all. It was a different place, it was a different time. it was a different world now she’s not your kind.
He can’t escape from his mind, he tries to run he tries to hide. His thoughts keep finding him. He won’t let them in, no he won’t let them in. He keeps staring at that wall but if he climbs it he’d surely fall. So he sits right there with no company except for his fear.
When he looks at you, you turn away. He’s got a lot on his mind with not much to say. You try to recall how you knew him at all. It was a different place, it was a different time. It was a different world, now he’s not your kind.
I guess I’m tired but I didn’t always use to be.
I’d rather be admired for something I did or said but that’s just me.
I do what feels right, despite what you might think of me. I don’t want to fight; I just want to be free.
When I look at you don’t turn away, I’ve got a lot on my mind I’ve got plenty to say. Don’t try to recall how you knew me at all. It was a different place it was a different time it was a different world a different world. Now I’m not your kind. It was a different place, it was a different time It was a different world a different world. But I don’t care, I don’t care, I don’t care if I’m your kind because you’re not mine.

Friend of Mine

Friend Of Mine
Words and Music by Amber Snider ©2010, ASCAP Puddle Siren Publishing
We’re going ninety miles an hour
Down this highway of life
My fingers and my toes
are dangling in the wind
Now, we don’t know where we’re going
on this warm fine day
but neither one of us
wants to see it end
It’s high time for the summertime
Just let your soul unwind
In the meantime all we have is fine
You are a good friend of mine
We stop by the store of convenience
To pick up a pack of beer
We joke and we laugh all the way there
We saw a homeless man on the corner
Standing there with his paper cup
He said if you really wanna do me a favor
Just fill it up
We talk about government issues
Saying, hey I could do it a better way
But when voting time comes around
We’ve got nothing to say
We get jealous of movie stars
Saying no one should get paid that much
We’re obsessed over details of their lives
So out of touch
I wish I could close my eyes
And not see inequality
But when the scales are tipped in one direction
It’s hard to be free,
It’s hard to be fre-e- e-e
We talk about our trials and tribulations
Over sips of beer
You ask me if I think there’s a God
Somewhere out there
Well I guess the truth of the matter
Is that no one really knows for sure
But the glass is half full side of me
Likes to think so
It’s high time for the summertime
Just let your soul unwind
In the meantime all we have is fine
You are a good friend of mine
It’s high time for the summertime
Just let your soul unwind
In the meantime all we have is fine
You are a good friend of mine

Happy Song
Words and music by Amber Snider, 2010, ASCAP Puddle Siren Publishing
This is a little happy song just for when things are going wrong
Just push play and then everything is good again
Well don’t you worry don’t you fret this song will replace your cigarette
Just push play and then everything is good again
(Push Play) Change how you feel
(Push Play) Turn the wheel
When nothing seems to go your way.
Just push play and then everything is good again.
You lost your house you lost your car
You lost everything that you are
Just push play and then everything is good again
You lost your money you lost your mind
You lost yourself along the line
Just push play and then everything is good again
(Push Play)Change how you feel
(Push Play) Turn the wheel
When nothing seems to go your way.
Just push play and then everything is good again.
You lost your voice you lost your nerve you lost everything that you deserved
Just push play and then everything is good again.
You found more problems you found more debt you found you just weren’t happy yet
Just push play and then everything is good again.
This is a little happy song just for when things are going wrong
Just push play and then everything is good again.
Just push play and then everything is good again.
Just push play and then everything is good again.
Just push play and then everything is good again.
